Seller Fee Schedule

Effective May 16, 2026

Gearbox charges a simple marketplace fee plus payment processing at cost. No listing fees. No per-item fees. No surprises.

3% marketplace fee plus payment processing

There is no single “all-in” rate, because payment-processing costs vary by payment method (card, ACH, wallet, etc.) and are passed through at cost. The marketplace fee is fixed and published; processing is deducted from your payout as the actual Stripe fee for that payment.

The Numbers

RateMarketplace FeePayment Processing
Promo (first 30 days from first sale)1%Actual Stripe cost (varies by payment method)
Standard rate3%Actual Stripe cost (varies by payment method)
Power Seller ($5,000+/mo)2%Actual Stripe cost (varies by payment method)

Payment-processing costs are not a fixed percentage. Card payments, ACH, and digital wallets each carry different Stripe fees, and the actual fee for your buyer’s payment method is deducted at cost from your payout.

The 5-for-5 Deal

Cross $5,000 in sales in any calendar month, and every sale above that threshold that month drops to a 2% marketplace fee (plus payment processing at cost).

The counter resets on the 1st of each month. Hit $5K in July, the rest of July is at the Power Seller rate. Start fresh in August.

Example: You sell $5,200 worth of gear in June. The first $5,000 is at the standard marketplace fee (3%). The $200 above the threshold is at the Power Seller rate (2%). Payment processing is added at cost on both. Month resets July 1.

What Your Fee Covers

  • Marketplace hosting, listing tools, and seller dashboard
  • Order management and buyer messaging
  • Integrated shipping label discounts via Shippo
  • Dispute mediation and buyer/seller protection

Payment Processing

Payment processing is handled by Stripe and charged at cost. Gearbox does not mark up processing. Because processing varies by payment method, the exact amount deducted from a given payout depends on how the buyer paid — we show the actual processing fee on each order’s payout breakdown, never a flat estimate.

How Payouts Are Calculated

Your payout is calculated in integer cents and deducted automatically:

Payout = sale price + buyer-paid shipping − discounts − actual shipping postage − actual payment-processing fee − marketplace fee − refunds/holds.

For buyer-funded shipping, the postage and the actual processing fee are finalized when the shipping label is purchased, so your payout shows as pending until then. No payout is released before postage and processing costs are known. For first sales, funds are held until delivery is confirmed.

Example (buyer-funded, standard rate): A $7.84 sale (item + shipping) with $6.57 postage and a $0.53 actual processing fee:

  • Marketplace fee (3%): $0.24
  • Seller payout: $7.84 − $6.57 − $0.53 − $0.24 = $0.50
  • Gearbox revenue: $0.24 (the marketplace fee; postage and processing are pass-through)

Funds are deposited to your connected bank account per Stripe’s payout schedule (typically 2 business days for new sellers, same-day for established accounts).
